Final Tashahud (the Last Sitting):
After completing the fourth rak‘ah, the Prophet ﷺ would sit for the final tashahhud. In this sitting, the same rulings applied as in the first tashahhud, except that here he would sit in the tawarruk position (resting on the left thigh and hip, with the left leg under the right).

Narrated by Yahya ibn Bukayr:
He said, al-Layth narrated to us from Khalid, from Sa‘id, from Muhammad ibn ‘Amr ibn Halhalah, from Muhammad ibn ‘Amr ibn ‘Aṭā’, and al-Layth also narrated from Yazid ibn Abi Habib and Yazid ibn Muhammad, from Muhammad ibn ‘Amr ibn Halhalah, from Muhammad ibn ‘Amr ibn ‘Aṭā’, that he was sitting with a group of the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ, and they discussed the prayer of the Prophet ﷺ.
Then Abu Humayd al-Sa‘idi said:
“I remember the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ better than any of you.
When he said takbir, he raised his hands in line with his shoulders.
When he bowed (rukū‘), he placed his hands on his knees and straightened his back.
When he raised his head from bowing, he stood straight until every bone returned to its proper place.
When he prostrated, he placed his hands neither flat nor close together, and he directed the tips of his toes toward the qiblah.
When he sat after two rak‘ahs, he sat on his left leg and raised his right.
When he sat in the last rak‘ah, he brought forward his left leg, raised the other, and sat on his buttocks.”
Al-Layth heard this from Yazid ibn Abi Habib, and Yazid from Muhammad ibn Halhalah, and Ibn Halhalah from Ibn ‘Aṭā’. Abu Salih reported from al-Layth: “Until every bone (vertebra) returned to its place.”
Ibn al-Mubarak narrated from Yahya ibn Ayyub, who said:
Yazid ibn Abi Habib told me that Muhammad ibn ‘Amr said to him: “Until every bone returned to its place.”
(Reported by al-Bukhari, Hadith 828; Abu Dawood, 730; al-Tirmidhi, 293, who said: “This hadith is Hasan Sahih.”)
